How Do I Properly Dispose Automotive Wastes?

Do you have a shelf in the garage that always seems to get cluttered with used and outdated auto wastes? And every time you walk by, the pile seems to grow and you keep telling yourself that you need to do something about it? Now is the perfect time to do so since Earth Day is just around the corner. Here is a refresher of how to properly dispose automotive wastes.

Used Oil

Since oil changes are one of your more frequent maintenance tasks, you probably have a lot sitting on that cluttered shelf. And it’s still in the drain pan, right? Transfer the used oil to a clean and clear plastic container—such as a milk jug—and drop it off with your used oil filters at a designated location.

Automotive Liquids

Depending on the liquid—brake fluid for instance—disposal is pretty easy. Simply use a pan of kitty litter and let the liquid evaporate over the course of a few days.

Recycle your tires instead of letting them sit in your garageTires

If you have a set of old, worn out tires tucked in the back corner of your garage, you can get rid of them by dropping them off at a local auto parts store or tire center that offer recycling services.
