As you can see from the table, the Corolla beats the Civic fair and square in terms of engine performance. The 2022 Toyota Corolla not only drives well but also comes with a diverse foray of engine options. While the standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine can generate 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft torque, the 2.0-liter 4-Cylinder engine is capable of generating 169 horsepower and a maximum torque of 151 lb-ft. The hybrid 2022 Corolla trims come with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder aluminum DOHC 16-valve engine with VVT-I that can power up the vehicle with 121 horsepower and 105 lb-ft torque.
A Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT) system transfers engine power to the car's front wheels or all wheels, depending on the option you choose. A six-speed manual transmission system is available for the 2.0-liter engine.
That’s just performance. Furthermore, the NHTSA has given the 2022 Toyota Corolla a high safety rating due to its extensive list of safety features. Some safety features include Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Road Sign Assist, amongst others.
