Wildlife and Vehicle Safety Tips

The Whitetail Deer is Pennsylvania’s state animal, and with good reason! This animal is quite abundant throughout the state! This is great for hunters and people who love roasted venison, but not so great for motorists. In fact, Pennsylvania consistently ranks as one of the top states where motorists are most likely to collide with a deer. Here are some wildlife and vehicle safety tips to help you avoid hitting Bambi this fall!

Bring Your Vehicle in for Maintenance!

One of the best things that you can do is bring your Toyota to our service department! Here, we can clean your headlights (for superior visibility), check your brakes (so you can stop at a moment’s notice), and check your rear lights (so other motorists will know that you have stopped).

Schedule a Service Appointment with Us!

No matter if you are on the highway or on a rural road, stay on the alert—particularly at night! We also recommend slowing down, especially when you are driving through areas where tall grass is close to the road. It is also a good idea to research current reports or talk to peers in order to find out where deer have been recently spotted.

Communicate with Your DNR

Speaking of research, your local Department of Natural Resources will have plenty of information available to help you avoid deer while driving. If you are unfortunate enough to hit a deer and it dies, the DNR will appreciate receiving information about the incident so that they can keep an accurate record of deer-vehicle collisions and current deer populations.
