Memorial Day is one of our favorite holidays. It gives us a chance to remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. And besides that, we are able to take some time to relax and have fun. If you are planning to be in the Pittsburgh area over Memorial Day Weekend, there are plenty of events and activities to check out! Here are a few of our favorites.

PyroFest

Where: Coopers Lake, Butler County
When: 3:00pm on Saturday, May 28 through 11:00pm on Sunday, May 29
Celebrate the start of the summer season by attending PyroFest at Coopers Lake! There will be an awesome fireworks display, plus live music and food. Camping areas are available. This event is fun for the whole family. More information and tickets available at www.pyrofest.com.

Veterans Memorial Day Service

Where: North Boundary Park, 1171 N Boundary Road, Cranberry Township
When: 1:00pm on Sunday, May 29
If you are planning to stay close to home over Memorial Day Weekend, but still want to keep in the spirit of the holiday, there is the Veterans Memorial Day Service in Cranberry Township. This event is free and hosted by VFW Post #879. Bring your own chair.

Memorial Day Celebration

Where: Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, 4141 5th Ave, Pittsburgh
When: 11:00am to 4:00pm on Monday, May 30
One of the best ways to remember the fallen is by learning their stories. The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum will be open on Memorial Day and offering tours. Other activities include raffles, children’s face painting, and a performance by the 6th Regiment USCT Drum Corps. Free Admission.
