4 Tips to help protect your vehicle in hot weather

  1. Shade is your friend. Park in shaded or indoor spots whenever possible. This helps keep your vehicle cool and prevent fading. If you must park in the sun, keep a foldable windshield sunshade in your car to help protect your vehicle’s dashboard, steering wheel, and upholstery from the sun.
  2. Keep an eye on your engine coolant. Hot weather may cause your engine to heat up more than normal, so make sure you top off your engine coolant when it gets low.
  3. How’s your air conditioner? With the hot weather, you are probably using your car’s air conditioner more often, so you should easily be able to tell if something is wrong. If you notice weak or warm blowing air, the refrigerant charge may be low and there could be a leak in the system.
  4. Take a close look at your windshield wipers. Extreme heat and sun can age the rubber and harden the wipers, which causes them to not work properly. It could be time to have them replaced.
